Indian equities begin Tuesday’s session after a sharp sell-off on Monday, with the benchmark indices falling to their lowest levels in several months. The Nifty 50 declined 360.25 points, or 1.56%, to close at 22,780.25, while the Sensex fell 1,124.02 points, or 1.52%, to 72,771.72. The decline was broad-based, with the Nifty Midcap index falling 1.6% and the Smallcap index declining 1.8%. Weak global cues, elevated crude oil prices and bond yields, persistent foreign institutional selling and geopolitical uncertainty were among the factors weighing on sentiment.
The market is also heading into the monthly F&O expiry, while India VIX rose 12.15% to 13.63 on Monday, its highest closing level since July 24. Against this backdrop, company-specific developments could provide individual stock triggers even as the broader market remains volatile.
FII/DII Activity
Foreign institutional investors significantly increased their selling on September 28, recording their largest single-day September outflow, while domestic institutions remained strong buyers.
| Investor | Gross Purchase | Gross Sale | Net Flow |
|---|---|---|---|
| FII | ₹9,047.56 crore | ₹14,400.78 crore | -₹5,353.22 crore |
| DII | ₹15,918.32 crore | ₹10,729.30 crore | +₹5,189.02 crore |
The FII selling of ₹5,353.22 crore was the largest single-day September outflow so far, while DII buying of ₹5,189.02 crore provided substantial counter-flow.

HCL Technologies
HCL Technologies is in focus after HCLSoftware announced its intention to acquire Croatia-based Robotiq.ai for €9 million. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening HCLSoftware’s enterprise robotic process automation capabilities and extending the capabilities of HCL UnO Agentic, its AI orchestration platform, from decision-making into execution. The deal adds another AI and automation capability to HCLTech’s software portfolio at a time when enterprise customers are increasingly adopting AI-driven workflows. Investors will be watching how Robotiq.ai’s technology is integrated into HCLSoftware’s existing products and whether the acquisition contributes to the company’s broader AI-led software strategy.
NCC
NCC has received a ₹1,076.71 crore contract from the Andhra Pradesh government for providing drinking-water infrastructure under the Multi Village Scheme linked to the Yeleru Reservoir. The project covers the Anakapalli segment in Anakapalli district and adds a sizeable order to NCC’s infrastructure pipeline. Large water and urban-infrastructure projects remain an important part of NCC’s order book, making the latest contract relevant for tracking the company’s execution pipeline and future revenue visibility.
Indian Railway Finance Corporation
Indian Railway Finance Corporation has signed a ₹4,200 crore term-loan agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation. The financing will support renewable-energy projects across Jharkhand and West Bengal. The agreement expands IRFC’s financing exposure beyond traditional railway-related funding and highlights its role in financing large infrastructure and energy projects. The size of the transaction also makes it one of the more significant corporate announcements among the stocks in focus for Tuesday.
Power Mech Projects
Power Mech Projects has secured a ₹279.20 crore operation and maintenance contract from Telangana Power Generation Corporation. The contract covers comprehensive O&M and upkeep of the ash-handling and coal-handling plants at the Yadadri Thermal Power Station, which consists of five 800 MW units. Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases
Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases has secured a ₹480.73 crore turnkey contract from Bharat Heavy Electricals for a 1,200 tonnes-per-day cryogenic air separation unit. The facility is part of BHEL’s Coal to Ammonium Nitrate project in Odisha. The project is expected to be commissioned in FY29 and is scheduled to be executed over eight quarters. The order is significant for Ellenbarrie because of its size relative to the company’s business and its connection with a large industrial project.
Vikram Solar
Vikram Solar has secured a 400 MW module supply order from a major engineering, procurement and construction player for decentralised solar projects in Maharashtra. The company will supply N-type TOPCon G12R modules, with deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2026. The order adds to Vikram Solar’s module pipeline and comes as domestic solar developers continue to increase their use of higher-efficiency module technologies.
Unichem Laboratories
Unichem Laboratories is in focus following a US Food and Drug Administration inspection of its facility at Goa. The inspection resulted in five observations being issued by the regulator. The development is relevant because USFDA observations can influence the regulatory status and future operations of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities supplying regulated markets. Investors will track the company’s response and any subsequent regulatory communication.
Marine Electricals
Marine Electricals has received orders worth ₹250.78 crore, adding a sizeable order-related trigger to the stock’s Tuesday watchlist. The company operates across electrical and electronic systems and has exposure to infrastructure and marine-related projects. The new orders increase attention on its order book and execution pipeline following Monday’s market-wide sell-off.

Zydus Lifesciences
Zydus Lifesciences is also in focus following a USFDA inspection of one of its manufacturing facilities that concluded with zero observations. A clean inspection outcome removes the immediate regulatory concerns associated with observations at a manufacturing facility and is therefore an important development for the pharmaceutical company. The company remains one of the notable pharma names with a fresh regulatory update ahead of Tuesday’s session.
Prestige Estates Projects
Prestige Estates Projects is in focus after a subsidiary withdrew its draft red herring prospectus for a proposed initial public offering. The withdrawal represents a change in the previously disclosed IPO process and is a corporate development investors will monitor for further clarification from the company. The development comes at a time when the primary market remains active, making changes to proposed listings relevant to investors tracking the company’s capital-market plans.
Monday’s sharp decline has made the broader market backdrop more cautious, with the Nifty closing below 22,800 and institutional flows showing heavy FII selling. At the same time, Tuesday’s watchlist contains several company-specific developments across technology, infrastructure, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and industrial businesses. With monthly derivatives expiry also approaching, investors will be watching both the broader index movement and the individual corporate triggers during the session.
