Stocks to Watch Today September 17 2026 Indian stocks in focus

Indian equities enter Thursday’s session after the benchmark indices recovered part of the previous day’s sharp losses. On September 16, the Nifty 50 gained 99 points, or 0.43%, to close at 23,217.60, while the Sensex rose 332.63 points, or 0.45%, to 74,336.45. FMCG, PSU banks and financial stocks supported the rebound, while IT remained weaker. Broader-market participation was subdued, with the Nifty MidCap 100 and SmallCap 100 ending marginally lower.

The market remains sensitive to crude oil prices, global interest rates and foreign fund flows. Brent crude has remained around $108 a barrel amid supply concerns linked to disruptions in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve’s September policy decision is now an important global-market event for Indian equities.

Against this backdrop, company-specific developments across IT, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, defence, healthcare, chemicals and consumer stocks are likely to drive stock-specific attention on September 17.
