September 7, 2026

Institutional Activity — September 4, 2026

Institutional FlowAmount
FII/FPI₹3,111.94 crore Net Selling
DII₹8,930.12 crore Net Buying

FIIs sold ₹3,111.94 crore of Indian equities on September 4, while DIIs were net buyers of ₹8,930.12 crore. For the first four trading sessions of September, FIIs remained net buyers for only two sessions, while domestic institutions continued to provide significant support.

Market Overview

Indian equities ended higher on Friday, breaking a four-session losing streak. The Nifty 50 gained 0.10% to close at 23,897.70, while the Sensex rose 0.48% to 76,515.43. However, both benchmarks recorded their fourth consecutive weekly decline. Elevated crude prices and continuing geopolitical tensions remain important factors for the Indian market.

Crude oil is again a major focus on Monday. Brent crude climbed to around $96.80 per barrel after renewed US-Iran tensions and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. Since India is a major crude importer, elevated oil prices remain relevant for inflation, currency and corporate cost pressures.

The Nifty closed just below 23,900 on Friday. Market participants are watching the 23,800–23,750 zone as an important support area, while 24,000 is an immediate reference level on the upside. These are market levels and not trading recommendations.

With the US markets closed on Monday for Labor Day, domestic corporate developments and Asian-market cues could have a greater influence on the Indian session.
