Gold Price Today, November 6, 2026: Gold Rebounds as Dollar Weakens, Dhanteras Demand Lifts Indian Prices

Gold prices have staged a sharp recovery in the first week of November, reversing part of the heavy losses that unsettled investors in October. The rebound has gathered momentum as the US dollar and Treasury yields retreat, oil prices ease and investors reassess the outlook for American interest rates.

In India, the recovery has arrived just as jewellery buyers prepare for Dhanteras, one of the busiest occasions for gold purchases. Domestic prices have climbed significantly over the past two sessions, creating a fresh challenge for consumers who were expecting the recent correction to continue.

The market’s attention on Friday, November 6, is shifting towards US employment data and the Federal Reserve’s next policy decision. Both could influence whether gold holds its latest gains.

In simple words: Gold has bounced back this week after a sharp fall. A weaker US dollar, falling oil prices and festival buying in India are helping, while Friday’s US jobs report could decide where it goes next.

Gold Price Today in India and International Markets

The latest available international prices are from Thursday’s trading session, while domestic reference rates reflect the early November 6 market.

India 24K gold, November 4₹1,40,660 per 10 grams
India 24K gold, October 30₹1,42,249 per 10 grams

Domestic prices are indicative. The Mumbai bullion reference excludes GST, while retail jewellery prices can vary according to location, dealer premiums and making charges.

The latest recovery is particularly striking because gold had fallen to a one-year low of $3,869.85 on October 30. Within a week, prices have recovered by more than $230 an ounce, although bullion remains below its earlier highs.

Weaker US Dollar Gives Gold a Fresh Boost

The US dollar has become one of the biggest drivers of the latest gold rally.

Following the American midterm election results, the dollar declined to its lowest level in more than a month. US Treasury yields also moved lower, with the benchmark 10-year yield reaching levels not seen since September.

Both developments have supported bullion.

Gold is internationally priced in dollars, so a weaker American currency makes it relatively less expensive for buyers using other currencies. Falling bond yields also reduce the opportunity cost of holding gold, which does not generate interest income.

These changes helped gold gain approximately 3.4% on Wednesday, its strongest daily advance since August 19. The rally continued into Thursday, when bullion reached its highest level in more than two weeks.

The speed of the recovery suggests that some traders who had positioned themselves for further declines were forced to reconsider those positions.

Falling Oil Prices Change the Inflation Outlook

Oil prices have played an unusually important role in gold’s recent movements.

The conflict involving Iran had previously raised concerns about energy supply disruptions and persistent inflation. Higher oil prices increased expectations that central banks might need to maintain elevated interest rates.

That environment had weighed on gold despite continuing geopolitical uncertainty.

The latest shift came as crude prices retreated sharply following the US election results. Brent crude fell nearly 9% on Wednesday and remained below $100 a barrel during Thursday’s trading.

Investors interpreted the decline as a possible reduction in inflation pressure.

If energy costs continue easing, the Federal Reserve may face less pressure to tighten monetary policy further. That possibility has contributed to gold’s recovery, although the direction of oil prices remains sensitive to developments in the Middle East.

US Employment Report Becomes the Next Major Test

The next important event for gold is Friday’s US non-farm payrolls report.

Employment data will help investors assess whether the American economy remains strong enough to withstand higher borrowing costs. A stronger labour market could reinforce expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep monetary policy restrictive.

Markets were still assigning approximately a 66% probability to a December interest rate increase during Thursday’s session.

That makes the employment report particularly important.

Stronger-than-expected hiring or wage growth could push Treasury yields and the dollar higher, creating renewed pressure on gold. Weaker employment figures could have the opposite effect by reducing expectations of additional monetary tightening.

For now, gold’s recovery is being supported by changing expectations rather than confirmation of a sustained shift in Federal Reserve policy.

Dhanteras Demand Adds Momentum in India

India’s gold market has another important influence this week: Dhanteras.

The festival traditionally attracts purchases of jewellery, coins and bars, making it a significant period for bullion retailers.

Gold prices in India have recovered sharply ahead of the occasion. The indicative national 24-carat rate increased from ₹1,40,660 per 10 grams on November 4 to ₹1,46,780 on November 5, a rise of ₹6,120.

The increase reflects the strength of the international recovery alongside domestic pricing factors.

However, festival demand does not determine international gold prices. Global interest rates, currency movements and investment flows remain more influential in setting the broader direction.

For Indian consumers, the latest rebound also means that the price advantage created by October’s decline has narrowed considerably.

Central Bank Buying Remains an Important Market Development

Fresh global demand figures released this week show that institutional interest in gold remains substantial despite the recent price correction.

According to the latest third-quarter gold demand figures, central banks and other official institutions added 321 tonnes to their reserves, an increase of 42% compared with the corresponding quarter last year.

Gold-backed exchange-traded funds also returned to net inflows during the quarter.

Global Gold Demand IndicatorQ3 2026
Total gold demand1,369 tonnes
Central bank net purchases321 tonnes
Central bank buying growth42% year-on-year
Gold ETF net inflows211 tonnes
Global gold ETF holdings4,256 tonnes
Bar and coin demand268 tonnes
Jewellery demand313 tonnes

The figures reveal a divided market. Institutional demand has remained comparatively resilient, while jewellery consumption and retail bar-and-coin purchases have weakened.

That distinction matters because central bank purchases and ETF investment flows can provide support during periods when ordinary consumers are reluctant to purchase gold at elevated prices.

Nevertheless, strong institutional demand does not prevent short-term volatility.

What the Latest Gold Market News Means

The developments of the past week show how quickly gold can respond when expectations around interest rates and inflation change.

At the end of October, investors were concerned about rising energy prices, persistent inflation and the possibility of further monetary tightening. By early November, falling oil prices and declining bond yields had encouraged a significant recovery.

The immediate market focus is now on whether those conditions persist.

A continued decline in the dollar and Treasury yields could support gold prices. Renewed inflation concerns, stronger employment figures or another increase in oil prices could weaken the recovery.

The $4,000-an-ounce level has also regained importance as a widely watched psychological reference after gold moved back above it.

For Indian markets, international bullion prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate and festival-related demand will continue influencing domestic quotations.

Gold’s latest rebound has changed the market’s immediate mood, but the coming economic data will help determine whether that improvement can be sustained.
