Market Overview

The broader market remains sensitive to crude oil prices and geopolitical developments. Brent crude moved above $102 a barrel during Thursday’s session as tensions around the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz continued. The rise in oil prices remains an important consideration for India because of the country’s dependence on imported crude.

Global markets also remained under pressure. US equities declined for a third consecutive session on Thursday, with the S&P 500 falling 0.58%, the Nasdaq declining 0.65% and the Dow Jones falling 0.60%. Rising Treasury yields and concerns about inflation added to the cautious global backdrop.

The Indian market’s late-session recovery on Thursday helped the Nifty reclaim the 23,450 level, but the overall September performance remains weak. Investors are likely to continue monitoring crude oil, the rupee, foreign institutional flows and global interest-rate expectations alongside company-specific announcements.

September 11 is therefore likely to remain a news-driven session, with corporate transactions, quarterly results, infrastructure developments, the NSE IPO process and sector-specific announcements providing the main areas of focus.
