Sunday, October 25, 2026: This weekend’s Indian market news includes new infrastructure contracts, a bio-gas investment plan, rail manufacturing cooperation, airport expansion and regulatory updates. The NSE and BSE were closed on Sunday, so investors will assess these developments when trading resumes on Monday. Here are ten company and sector developments to watch.
1. RailTel receives ₹20.04-crore defence technology order
RailTel Corporation of India received a letter of intent from Munitions India for a domestic project valued at about ₹20.04 crore, including taxes. The work covers data-centre and disaster-recovery infrastructure across 13 locations under the Q-Shakti initiative. The company is expected to complete the project by February 28, 2027. The contract adds a defence technology assignment to RailTel’s digital infrastructure work; its eventual contribution will depend on execution and project margins.
2. Petronet LNG plans a ₹1,200-crore compressed bio-gas venture
Petronet LNG signed a binding term sheet with Gruner Renewable Energy to establish a 50:50 joint venture for compressed bio-gas. The plan covers 10 plants, each with capacity of 18 tonnes a day, for a combined capacity of 180 tonnes a day. The estimated investment is ₹1,200 crore. The filing did not specify plant locations, a construction timetable or how the investment will be funded, so those details remain to be worked out.
3. Jupiter Wagons and Poland’s PESA explore passenger-train manufacturing
Jupiter Wagons and Polish rail manufacturer PESA signed a memorandum of understanding to explore cooperation on passenger rail vehicles. The areas under discussion include regional, intercity, urban, metro, semi-high-speed and high-speed applications in India and other markets. The agreement is exploratory: it does not amount to a confirmed supply order or a commitment to a specific project. Any commercial impact will depend on follow-up agreements and successful bids.

4. BSE and MMTC-PAMP partner on electronic gold receipts
BSE has entered into an agreement with bullion refiner MMTC-PAMP India to promote electronic gold receipts, or EGRs. The initiative is intended to support wider participation and the conversion of physical gold into exchange-traded receipts, and back into physical gold, subject to applicable rules. BSE has said it will facilitate EGR contracts in different denominations. The partnership is a market-development effort; the announcement did not set out a revenue target or a launch timetable.
5. Trent subsidiary signs term sheet to sell its property subsidiary
Trent said its wholly owned subsidiary, Nahar Retail Trading Services, had signed a binding term sheet to divest its entire holding in Netria Property Holdings to TreBids Investment Trust, a registered small and medium real estate investment trust. The proposed transaction is a property-related portfolio move. Investors will look for subsequent disclosures on closing conditions, consideration and completion, as a signed term sheet alone does not mean the transfer has been completed.
6. Godrej Properties chairperson sees bookings reaching ₹41,500 crore
Godrej Properties Chairperson Pirojsha Godrej said the company’s FY27 sales bookings could rise about 22% to ₹41,500 crore, above its stated annual guidance of ₹39,000 crore. The company reported bookings of ₹16,659 crore in the first half, up 7% year on year. The ₹41,500-crore figure is management’s expectation, not a completed result or a revised formal guidance. Investors will track launches, customer collections and the pace of bookings in the second half.
7. NMDC looks overseas as it seeks to diversify beyond iron ore
NMDC is scouting for mining assets in several regions, including South America, Australia, Africa and parts of Asia, according to a report citing industry sources. The opportunities mentioned include lithium, copper, cobalt and rare earths, as well as minerals such as limestone and coking coal. NMDC has stated an ambition to generate at least 20% of revenue from minerals other than iron ore over time. The reported search is an exploration of potential assets, not confirmation that acquisitions have been agreed.

8. IndiGo and Air India Group outline phased moves to Navi Mumbai
IndiGo and Adani Airports said IndiGo plans to begin international operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport in February 2027. Its announced plan would shift 12 daily international departures from Mumbai’s existing airport in phases between February and July, subject to final coordination and operating approvals. Separately, Air India Express plans four daily domestic flights from Navi Mumbai from December 2026, with selected West Asia services to follow. The phased transition is linked to the redevelopment of Mumbai airport’s Terminal 1 and the development of a two-airport system for the region.
9. IRDAI extends insurance-distribution consultation to October 31
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has extended the deadline for comments on its proposed insurance-distribution reforms from October 25 to October 31 after receiving more than 650 submissions. The consultation paper discusses possible changes to commission caps and insurers’ expense limits. These are proposals under consultation, not final rules. Insurers, intermediaries and other stakeholders now have additional time to respond before the regulator considers the feedback.
10. Coal stocks remain tight at several power plants despite record deliveries
Power-sector supply conditions remain an item to watch. As of October 19, 96 of India’s 191 coal-fired power plants had stocks sufficient for fewer than three days of generation, according to Central Electricity Authority data cited in a report. A power ministry official said coal deliveries had risen to a record 2.6 million tonnes a day and expected supply to normalise. Higher electricity demand, weather-related disruptions to deliveries and lower hydropower generation have contributed to the pressure. The situation could matter for power producers and energy-intensive industries, although it does not by itself establish a change in any company’s earnings.
These developments span project execution, new energy, passenger rail, bullion-market infrastructure, aviation, insurance rules and power supply. Several are plans or consultations rather than completed transactions. Investors will be watching for exchange filings, approvals, execution progress and further details before assessing their financial impact.
