Coal India’s overall daily production also increased 40% to 1.91 million tonnes, while supplies to the power sector rose 27% to 1.74 million tonnes.

Market Overview

The broader Indian equity market remains sensitive to crude oil prices, geopolitical developments, the rupee and foreign institutional flows. Brent crude moving above $100 a barrel has renewed concerns around India’s import costs and inflation. Foreign portfolio investors have also turned sellers again, with FPIs reportedly selling around $1.6 billion of Indian equities across five of the previous six trading sessions.

The combination of elevated oil prices, a weaker rupee and continued foreign selling is keeping the broader environment volatile. Against this backdrop, company-specific developments such as orders, project wins, production updates, regulatory approvals and corporate transactions are likely to remain important for individual stocks.
