Sunday’s market news brings a mix of regulation, financial infrastructure, manufacturing, new orders, investor flows and IPO developments. The NSE and BSE are closed today, so these updates and the events scheduled for the coming week will be in focus when trading resumes on Monday, October 26.

1. SEBI orders ₹546.17 crore refund in Avadhut Sathe Academy case

SEBI has directed Avadhut Sathe Trading Academy and its founder to refund ₹546.17 crore collected from participants, finding that activities presented as education included unregistered investment advisory and research services. The regulator also imposed penalties totalling ₹11.5 crore. The final order reinforces the distinction between general market education and security-specific advice that requires registration. The order gives affected participants a formal process to seek refunds.

2. RBI’s new data centre and cybersecurity institute set to open

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar on Sunday afternoon. The facility is designed to host critical payment and settlement systems. The project includes four data centres certified to the Uptime Institute’s Tier IV standard, while the institute will focus on cybersecurity and emerging technologies relevant to the financial sector. It is a long-term investment in the resilience of India’s digital financial infrastructure.

3. Arvind’s Varanasi garment facility highlights manufacturing push

Arvind Limited’s new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi is scheduled to be inaugurated during the Prime Minister’s visit on Sunday. The women-led initiative is intended to expand apparel manufacturing in the region and connect locally made products with global markets. The development brings attention to the supply chain and employment potential of textile manufacturing beyond established industrial centres.

4. KEC International wins ₹2,872 crore Power Grid orders

KEC International announced turnkey orders worth ₹2,872 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India for the design, supply and installation of 765-kV transmission lines. The company said the projects are associated with evacuating 8.5 GW of renewable power from Gujarat and represent its largest single order in India’s transmission and distribution business. The award adds to the execution pipeline for power-grid expansion and renewable connectivity.

5. AI data-centre demand is lifting the optical-fibre spotlight

Demand for high-capacity connectivity is drawing attention to India’s optical-fibre suppliers as data centres expand. HFCL and Sterlite Technologies together reported order books of about ₹64,185 crore in their latest disclosures, with fibre and data-centre connectivity forming an important part of the opportunity. HFCL has also outlined manufacturing investment to expand optical-fibre preform capacity. The pipeline points to a growing infrastructure theme, but investors will still need to watch project execution, margins and how quickly orders convert into revenue.

6. Foreign investors sell for a tenth consecutive week

Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers in Indian equities for the tenth straight week. Their net sales were reported at ₹26,970 crore for the holiday-shortened week, lower than the ₹89,910 crore outflow in the previous week. Domestic institutional investors continued to provide buying support for a tenth consecutive week. The split between foreign selling and domestic buying remains an important signal for market liquidity and sentiment.

7. MCA extends FY26 filing deadlines and waives additional fees

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has extended the deadline for companies to file FY2025–26 financial statements without additional fees to December 31, 2026. The deadline for annual returns has been moved to January 31, 2027. The extension follows concerns about technical difficulties and filing requirements on the MCA portal. Companies and compliance teams now have additional time to complete the required submissions.

9. IPO lock-in expiries put several newly listed stocks on the calendar

Shares in Xtranet Technologies representing about 38% of its outstanding equity are scheduled to become eligible for trading on October 26. Varmora Granito, Lohia Corp and INDO-MIM also have lock-in expiries scheduled for that date. Moneyview has a further expiry on October 29 involving shares equal to around 3% of its equity. An expiry only makes shares eligible to trade; it does not mean that holders will sell them.

10. New IPOs and a busy event calendar are ahead

BLS Polymers and SFC Environmental Technologies are scheduled to open their public issues on October 27. BLS Polymers has set a price band of ₹142–₹150 for an issue of up to ₹255 crore, while SFC Environmental Technologies has set a ₹313–₹330 band for an issue of about ₹667.5 crore. The week also brings results from companies including Larsen & Toubro and Maruti Suzuki, alongside the US Federal Reserve meeting on October 27–28 and policy meetings at the European Central Bank and Bank of Japan. These events could influence global rate expectations and risk appetite.

For Indian investors, the coming week combines domestic corporate updates with regulatory decisions, IPO activity and global central-bank events. Each development may affect different sectors and stocks, so the market response will depend on the details and broader sentiment.
