Jio Platforms is preparing for one of the most closely watched stock-market listings in India’s history. The digital-services company, which houses Reliance Jio and a broader portfolio of digital businesses, has received regulatory approval for its initial public offering and is expected to enter the public markets later this year. The proposed listing could become India’s largest IPO, making Jio Platforms one of the most important new stocks for investors to analyse.
Unlike a conventional telecom company, Jio Platforms has developed into a broader digital ecosystem covering mobile connectivity, broadband, digital applications, enterprise services, cloud infrastructure and emerging artificial-intelligence capabilities. This combination gives the company exposure to several long-term trends in India’s digital economy while also making its valuation particularly important for investors.
Jio Platforms Business Overview
Jio Platforms is the holding company for Reliance’s digital and telecommunications businesses, with Reliance Jio Infocomm forming its core operating business. Jio has built one of the world’s largest telecom subscriber bases and has expanded its ecosystem beyond mobile connectivity into home broadband, digital services, enterprise solutions and technology platforms.
The scale of the business is one of its biggest strengths. As of March 2026, Jio’s customer base stood at 524.4 million, compared with 488.2 million a year earlier. Average revenue per user also increased to ₹214 from ₹206.2, while data consumption continued to rise sharply. These trends show that Jio’s opportunity is no longer simply about adding subscribers; increasing monetisation of its existing customer ecosystem is becoming increasingly important.

Strong Financial Growth
Jio Platforms has demonstrated significant financial growth over the last few years. Revenue from operations increased from approximately ₹1.10 lakh crore in FY2024 to ₹1.47 lakh crore in FY2026. EBITDA increased from around ₹54,959 crore to ₹76,255 crore during the same period, while profit after tax increased from approximately ₹21,423 crore to ₹30,049 crore.
The company also maintained an EBITDA margin of more than 50% in FY2026, highlighting the operating leverage within the business. Net leverage declined to 0.36 times, compared with 0.71 times in FY2025, giving the company a stronger balance-sheet position as it prepares for its next phase of expansion.
The latest quarterly performance has remained strong. In Q1 FY2027, Jio Platforms reported revenue of ₹45,961 crore, up around 12% year-on-year, while profit after tax increased to ₹7,764 crore. EBITDA increased to ₹20,865 crore and the EBITDA margin improved to approximately 53.3%.
ARPU Could Become an Important Growth Driver
One of the most important metrics for Jio investors will be average revenue per user, or ARPU. Subscriber growth remains important, but with more than 500 million customers, future revenue growth can increasingly come from better monetisation.

Jio’s Q1 FY2027 ARPU reached ₹215.6, compared with ₹208.8 in the same quarter a year earlier. Further tariff increases, higher data usage, premium plans and greater adoption of digital services could provide additional revenue growth without requiring proportional subscriber additions.
This creates an important operating advantage: Jio can potentially increase revenue by monetising its enormous existing customer base while continuing to add users.
Beyond Telecom
The most interesting part of the Jio Platforms investment story is its expansion beyond telecommunications.
Jio has been building businesses around broadband, digital entertainment, enterprise connectivity, cloud services and artificial intelligence. The company has also been investing in technology capabilities that could allow it to participate in India’s growing AI and digital-infrastructure opportunity.

This diversification could eventually change how investors value the company. If Jio remains primarily valued as a telecom operator, its valuation framework could remain tied closely to subscriber growth, ARPU and telecom margins. However, if its digital, enterprise, cloud and AI businesses become significant earnings contributors, investors could begin viewing Jio as a broader technology and digital-platform company.
Jio’s IPO and Valuation
Valuation will be one of the biggest issues for investors.
The proposed IPO is expected to involve a fresh issue of shares, with Jio Platforms having disclosed plans for up to 27 crore new equity shares. Reports indicate that the offering could raise around $3.8 billion, while current market estimates have placed the company’s potential enterprise valuation around $143–146 billion or higher.
At such a valuation, investors will need to determine whether Jio’s future growth can justify the premium being placed on the company.

A high valuation is not necessarily a problem when earnings, cash flows and long-term growth opportunities are strong. However, it reduces the margin of safety for investors. The stock could therefore remain sensitive to IPO pricing, listing valuation and the pace at which earnings grow after the listing.
Key Growth Drivers
Jio Platforms has several potential growth engines. Continued mobile subscriber growth, higher ARPU, broadband expansion, enterprise services, digital applications, cloud infrastructure and artificial-intelligence initiatives can all contribute to future growth.
India’s increasing digital consumption provides an additional structural advantage. As more consumers move toward digital payments, streaming, cloud-based services, online commerce and connected devices, Jio’s large customer ecosystem provides a platform from which new services can be introduced.
The company’s scale also gives it an important distribution advantage. New products can potentially be offered to hundreds of millions of existing users rather than building a customer base from scratch.

Key Risks Investors Should Watch
The biggest risk is valuation. Jio could enter the public market with very high growth expectations already reflected in its IPO price. If earnings growth fails to match those expectations, the stock could experience valuation pressure even if the underlying business continues to grow.
Competition is another factor. India’s telecom market is concentrated, but companies still compete aggressively on pricing, network quality and customer retention. Large investments in 5G, broadband, data centres and technology also require significant capital.
Regulation is another important risk. Telecom pricing, spectrum policy, competition rules, data regulation and digital-platform policies can all affect Jio’s operations.
Investors should also monitor the contribution from newer businesses. AI, cloud and digital services offer substantial opportunities, but they must eventually translate into meaningful revenue and profitability to justify a technology-style valuation.

Jio Platforms Stock Outlook
Jio Platforms is entering the public market with an unusually strong combination of scale, customer reach, financial growth and technology ambitions. Its more than 500-million-user ecosystem gives the company a significant competitive advantage, while rising ARPU and expanding digital services provide multiple avenues for future growth.
However, the IPO valuation will be just as important as the business itself. Investors should avoid analysing Jio purely on its brand strength or subscriber numbers. The more important question will be whether future earnings and cash flows can grow sufficiently to support the valuation assigned to the company at listing.
For investors building a watchlist of newly listed and upcoming IPO stocks, Jio Platforms is likely to be one of the most important companies to monitor. After listing, changes in valuation, ARPU, subscriber growth, margins, cash generation and the contribution from digital and technology businesses will determine whether the stock can convert its enormous business potential into long-term shareholder value.
