Asha checked her bank app and gasped. Her balance had grown by one extra zero overnight. She took a screenshot, then another screenshot in case the first one was only a dream. For three glorious minutes she was wealthy enough to buy the large popcorn at the cinema.
She called her brother, who immediately asked whether she could repay the ₹500 he had lent her last year. “I can repay everyone,” Asha said, speaking like a queen who had just discovered a treasure chest. Her mother began listing household repairs. Her father quietly opened a travel website.
Before the family could book anything, Asha refreshed the app. The zero disappeared. It had been a display glitch, the bank explained. The account balance was back to its usual amount, which was enough for groceries and a very small celebration.
The family held a meeting to discuss their three-minute wealth. Dad admitted he had already selected a hotel. Mum said she had mentally replaced the mixer. Asha’s brother had sent a repayment reminder with a smiley face.
They all laughed, then agreed to build a real savings cushion. Asha set up a tiny monthly transfer. The app celebrated with confetti. “Don’t overdo it,” she warned. “One zero at a time.”
