Stocks to Watch Today: October 29, 2026 – Jio Platforms, JSW Energy, TVS Motor and More

Indian stock markets enter Thursday, October 29, with investors weighing another round of quarterly earnings against the pressure of rising crude oil prices. On Wednesday, the Nifty 50 fell 50.90 points, or 0.22%, to close at 22,698.85, while the Sensex declined 352.64 points, or 0.48%, to settle at 73,246.03. Both indices recovered substantially from their intraday lows, but selling in technology and energy shares kept the benchmarks in negative territory.

Brent crude traded around $115 a barrel as fresh concerns about Middle Eastern oil supplies unsettled markets. The higher price of imported energy remains a particular concern for India because it can affect inflation, corporate costs and the trade balance. Against this backdrop, Wednesday’s market debut of Jio Platforms attracted attention, while results from JSW Energy, TVS Motor, Vedanta and several other companies provided fresh company-specific developments.

Both foreign and domestic institutional investors were net buyers in Wednesday’s cash market, with combined net purchases of ₹1,515.18 crore. Even so, the benchmark indices finished lower, showing that institutional inflows alone were not enough to offset selling pressure in heavyweight stocks.

Jio Platforms

Jio Platforms made a strong stock-market debut on October 28, opening at ₹1,358 against its IPO issue price of ₹1,119. The shares finished their first trading session at ₹1,419, a gain of approximately 26.8% over the issue price.

The listing gives investors a separately traded route to Jio’s telecommunications and digital-services businesses. Attention will now shift from the initial listing premium to the company’s operating performance, customer growth, capital expenditure and valuation. Trading in Reliance Industries, which fell on Wednesday, will also be watched as investors assess the relationship between the parent company and its newly listed subsidiary.

JSW Energy

JSW Energy reported a nearly 50% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,056.4 crore for the September quarter. Revenue from operations rose approximately 23% to ₹6,368.5 crore, while EBITDA increased about 21% to ₹3,617.6 crore.

The earnings growth puts the company’s expanding power-generation portfolio in focus. Investors will examine the contribution from existing and newly commissioned capacity, operating costs and the progress of projects under development. The balance between capacity expansion and financial discipline will remain important as the company invests in its energy businesses.

TVS Motor Company

TVS Motor Company reported consolidated net profit of approximately ₹1,377 crore for the September quarter, representing growth of about 52% over the corresponding period last year. Revenue increased to approximately ₹17,103 crore from ₹11,905 crore, while EBITDA rose 47% to ₹2,219 crore.

The results highlight strong growth in the company’s automobile operations. Manufacturing costs and competitive pricing will remain important as TVS expands its presence across conventional and electric mobility.

The improvement brings attention to the performance of the group’s metals and natural-resources operations. Deposit growth and the performance of its loan portfolio will remain important indicators for the coming quarters.

Hindustan Unilever

Hindustan Unilever reported consolidated revenue of approximately ₹18,226 crore for the September quarter, compared with ₹16,241 crore a year earlier. Consolidated net profit increased to around ₹2,796 crore from ₹2,697 crore.

Revenue growth was stronger than profit growth, making margins and operating costs important areas of attention. Management commentary on rural consumption, urban demand and input costs will provide further insight into the company’s operating environment.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone

The contribution from different ports and logistics activities will help determine how effectively revenue growth translates into earnings.

Asian Paints

Asian Paints is scheduled to announce its September-quarter financial results on October 29. Investors will focus on decorative-paints demand, sales volumes, revenue growth and operating margins.

The company operates in a market where competitive pricing, raw-material expenses and distribution strength influence profitability. Demand from housing construction, renovation and repainting will be important to its performance. Management commentary on market conditions and competition will help clarify the outlook for India’s paints industry.

Coal India

Coal India is scheduled to announce its Q2 FY27 financial results today, with the board also considering a dividend.

Investors will examine coal production, offtake, revenue, operating expenses and profitability. Demand from power producers and industrial customers remains central to the company’s business. Wage costs, production efficiency and sales realisations will also influence earnings. Any dividend declaration will add a separate corporate-action development to the quarterly results.

InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo)

InterGlobe Aviation, the operator of IndiGo, is scheduled to announce its September-quarter financial results on October 29.

Investors will focus on passenger traffic, capacity, ticket yields, operating costs and profitability. Elevated crude oil prices are particularly relevant to airlines because aviation turbine fuel represents a major operating expense. Currency movements and aircraft availability can also influence financial performance. Management commentary on fleet expansion, international routes and passenger demand will provide further context.

What Investors Will Watch Today

Thursday’s trading session brings several distinct developments. Jio Platforms will enter its second day of trading after a strong market debut, while JSW Energy, TVS Motor, Vedanta and Bandhan Bank have reported substantial earnings growth.
