Friday, October 23, brought a fresh batch of September-quarter earnings from companies across technology, engineering, cement, pharmaceuticals, banking and logistics. This roundup focuses on results announced today and avoids the companies covered in earlier OneTrader market roundups.
1. Coforge lifts margin outlook after strong Q2 growth
Coforge reported dollar revenue of $652.2 million for Q2 FY27, up 40.1% from a year earlier and 10.1% sequentially. Organic constant-currency growth was 3.8% quarter on quarter. The IT services company raised its FY27 operating margin guidance to 16%, giving investors a clearer signal on profitability as revenue expands. The reported dollar growth also reflects the larger scale following its acquisition of Encora, so organic growth remains an important measure to track.
2. Shree Cement posts higher revenue but lower profit
Shree Cement’s September-quarter revenue rose about 23.8% year on year to ₹5,897 crore, while net profit fell 15.1% to around ₹262 crore. EBITDA increased only modestly to about ₹1,016 crore, and the operating margin narrowed to roughly 17.2% from 20.5% a year earlier. The figures put cost control and realisations in focus: sales growth was healthy, but it did not translate into higher bottom-line earnings.
3. Sterlite Technologies reports a record quarter
Sterlite Technologies reported Q2 revenue of ₹2,529 crore, up about 145% year on year, and EBITDA of ₹846 crore compared with ₹141 crore a year earlier. Net profit came in at ₹517 crore versus ₹4 crore. The company also reported a record order book of ₹35,274 crore, with demand for optical networks and connectivity infrastructure supporting the business. A one-time tariff refund contributed to the sharp profit comparison, so investors will want to separate that benefit from recurring operating performance.

4. Torrent Pharma’s sales jump while profit slips
Torrent Pharmaceuticals’ consolidated revenue increased 50.8% to ₹4,979 crore, while net profit declined 9.6% to ₹534 crore. The year-on-year comparison includes JB Pharma, which became part of the group during the current financial year. Higher finance costs and depreciation also weighed on reported earnings. Torrent’s operating EBITDA rose 53.8% to ₹1,666 crore and its margin widened to 33.5%, while its underlying base business grew 18%. The difference between operating growth and reported profit is the key detail in this quarter’s numbers.
5. CG Power’s order intake strengthens future visibility
CG Power and Industrial Solutions posted a 44% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹409 crore, with sales up 30% to ₹3,802 crore. EBITDA grew 40% to ₹621 crore and the margin expanded to 16.3%. Order intake climbed 78% to ₹8,485 crore, lifting the unexecuted order backlog to ₹23,646 crore at the end of September. Power systems drove much of the expansion, though the company is also investing in additional transformer and switchgear capacity to address production constraints.
6. Bank of India records double-digit earnings growth
Bank of India reported a 25% year-on-year increase in global net profit to approximately ₹3,202 crore for Q2 FY27. Global net interest income rose 19% to about ₹7,007 crore, while operating profit advanced 33% to ₹5,089 crore. Investors will look beyond the headline profit growth to track whether the stronger income trend is accompanied by steady asset quality, deposit growth and credit costs in coming quarters.
7. Jana Small Finance Bank raises its growth ambition
Jana Small Finance Bank’s Q2 net profit rose 127% to ₹170 crore from ₹75 crore a year earlier. Net interest income grew 35% to ₹819 crore, and net interest margin improved to 7.5% from 6.5%. Its gross loan book expanded 22% to ₹38,752 crore. The bank raised its FY27 profit-growth guidance to 100%. The stronger outlook is a notable update, while investors should also monitor asset-quality trends as the loan book grows.

8. Mahindra Logistics swings back to profit
Mahindra Logistics reported revenue of ₹2,095 crore, up about 24% year on year, and net profit of around ₹26 crore compared with a loss in the year-ago quarter. EBITDA grew 46% to ₹124 crore and the margin improved to 5.9%. Contract logistics and the express business supported growth; its Rivigo express operation recorded its first EBITDA-positive quarter since the acquisition. The result marks progress in the turnaround, with sustainable margins and cash generation remaining important follow-through measures.
9. CSB Bank grows profit and deposits
CSB Bank’s net profit increased 14% to ₹182.72 crore for the September quarter, while net interest income grew 20% to ₹510 crore. Total deposits reached ₹46,889 crore, an 18% year-on-year increase. Lower provisions also supported the profit improvement. The combination of deposit expansion and stronger interest income gives investors a fresh set of operating measures to compare against the bank’s loan growth and asset quality in future results.
10. DCB Bank reports profit growth with improved asset quality
DCB Bank posted net profit of ₹236 crore, up 29% from ₹184 crore a year earlier. Total income rose to ₹2,300 crore and net interest income increased to ₹2,051 crore. Gross non-performing assets eased to 2.29% from 2.91% a year ago, while net NPAs fell to 0.73% from 1.21%. The quarter combined earnings growth with lower bad-loan ratios, although continued progress will depend on maintaining underwriting discipline as credit expands.
What investors should watch next
These results show very different earnings patterns: some companies delivered stronger profits and order books, while others saw costs or financing expenses absorb revenue growth. The next set of quarterly updates will help investors assess whether the reported improvement is recurring, how companies manage margins and whether new orders convert into profitable sales. A single quarter does not determine a company’s longer-term prospects, and headline growth rates can be affected by acquisitions or one-off items.
