US Stocks to Watch Today, October 22, 2026: Tesla, Meta, Nvidia and Major Earnings

Thursday, October 22, 2026 | US Stock Market | Onetrader

US stock futures declined on Thursday, October 22, 2026, as investors assessed quarterly earnings from major technology companies, renewed concerns about artificial intelligence spending and rising crude oil prices. Nasdaq futures fell more than 1% in early trading, reversing part of the previous session’s technology-led advance.

Tesla, Meta Platforms, Nvidia, IBM and Lam Research were among the prominent stocks attracting attention before the opening bell. Meanwhile, a busy corporate earnings calendar featuring Procter & Gamble, Lockheed Martin, Union Pacific and Blackstone added to the day’s market developments.

Tesla (TSLA): Shares Fall Following Earnings

Tesla shares declined approximately 5.3% in early premarket trading after the electric vehicle manufacturer released its latest quarterly results and revised its capital expenditure plans.

The company reduced its annual capital expenditure forecast to approximately $20 billion from an earlier estimate of $25 billion. The adjustment attracted attention because Tesla is investing in autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, robotics and other technology initiatives.

Investors also assessed management’s comments regarding the company’s longer-term growth expectations. Tesla’s results placed renewed attention on the relationship between technology investment, operating profitability and the pace of future business expansion.

Meta Platforms (META): AI Investment Plans in Focus

Meta Platforms shares fell approximately 1.9% in early premarket trading following its third-quarter earnings announcement.

The company reported record quarterly revenue and outlined plans involving a new class of non-voting shares intended to support financing for its artificial intelligence expansion. Despite the strong revenue performance, the announcement renewed attention on the substantial capital required for AI infrastructure.

Meta continues to invest in computing capacity and advanced AI systems. The latest earnings update highlighted the financial commitments associated with those projects and their implications for future cash flow.

Nvidia (NVDA), Micron (MU) and Lam Research (LRCX): Semiconductor Stocks in Focus

Nvidia and Micron Technology were among the semiconductor stocks facing pressure as investors reassessed valuations and spending expectations across the artificial intelligence industry.

Lam Research also declined following its quarterly earnings announcement, despite reporting results that exceeded analyst expectations. The market reaction reflected elevated expectations for companies supplying equipment and components used in semiconductor manufacturing.

The semiconductor industry’s performance remains closely connected to capital spending by major technology companies, demand for advanced processors and investment in data-centre infrastructure.

IBM (IBM): Earnings Beat Fails to Support Shares

IBM shares declined approximately 4.3% in premarket trading despite reporting quarterly earnings above market expectations.

Investors focused on the company’s revenue growth and broader technology spending trends. IBM’s results provided another perspective on demand for enterprise software, consulting services and technology infrastructure.

The stock’s decline illustrated how market reactions during earnings season can depend on business outlooks and revenue trends, even when reported profits exceed expectations.
